Xiaolin is a Hong Kong–born DJ, producer, vinyl collector and former concert violinist whose sound explores warmth, emotional depth and texture. Her name 曉霖, meaning “sunrise after long rain,” reflects a dreamlike yet grounded approach shaped by influences from the mid-80s to early-00s, film, anime, nature and French impressionism. Her analog-driven productions move fluidly between acid, house, electro, techno and dubby ambient, balancing ethereal atmosphere with raw energy.
Trained in classical violin and educated abroad in jazz, world music and electronic composition (Juilliard BM ’14; Berklee Valencia MM ’16/’17), Xiaolin performed in jazz and Batucada bands while building her vinyl collection. A formative period in London before the pandemic deepened her connection to UK underground culture and reinforced her genre-fluid artistic direction.
Sensitive to the dance floor, Xiaolin crafts dynamic house-to-techno DJ sets enriched with progressive, organic sounds, 303s and breaks. Her original live set exists in three formats—Sun (sunrise), Moon (meditative) and Body (club)—and has appeared at venues and festivals including Panorama Bar, Boiler Room, Wonderfruit, Draaimolen and Rainbow Disco Club. Her releases span 宀 Records, Klasse Wrecks, 20/20 Vision, Polychrome Audio, Harmony Rec and Sound Metaphors’ Bless You, alongside acclaimed live recordings and a bimonthly show on Baihui Radio China.
