Viewpoints is an improvisational technique of movement originated by an American choreographer Mary Overlie and later adapted to theatre by Anne Bogart, Tina Landau, and SITI Company.
This technique pays a lot of attention to the state of flow – in creation, whatever it is, it requires the ability to connect with it, to listen to oneself, another, space.
Participants in the general group are slowly introduced to the simple instructions, which they later run and can return to; observing for themselves how they create group consciousness here and now and practice it.
This technique is available to anyone in any profession who wants to discover a creative impulse and have listening instructions for possible connection to the state of flow. Therefore, purposefully, through the senses of the body, one moves towards the conscious attention-energy management ability, and the experience of the body as a listening instrument in the group.
