Tylėjimai

“Silences” is a dance performance that invites the audience to immerse themselves in the journey of racing thoughts that often arise before sleep. Drawing inspiration from the concepts of Dutch-born writer Matthijs Van Boxsel, who analyzes the architecture of French ahah and English haha parks, the performance explores the difference between human perception and the presence or absence of a sense of harmony.

Using the writer’s abstract yet clearly intentional imagery as a foundation, the performers attempt to map these thoughts and answer the question: what is silence? This quest unfolds through a multi-layered movement in an environment filled with Dark Techno music, weaving together a realm of rather dark and sometimes familiar thoughts that become the central focus of the performance.

“Silences” is a continuation of the solo performance “Silence of Kittens” by choreographer Paulius Prievelis, with production financed by the Lithuanian Council for Culture in 2020. As you journey through “Silences,” you’ll discover that silence is not merely the absence of noise but a vast landscape of unsaid words, untold stories, and unexpressed emotions.
