S’Anatomia is an immersion into Čiurlionis’ painting—a present-moment experience that draws the viewer in, allowing them to create their own imaginative abstractions and evoking a surreal sense of cosmic vastness.
It is a twelve-part cosmological opera whose musical foundation is drone music. The opera was created by young-generation composer Mantvydas Pranulis, who received the inaugural M. K. Čiurlionis scholarship for its creation. Responding to contemporary musical trends, the composer of S’Anatomia seeks to merge archaism with innovative musical and philosophical archetypes.
