Nancie Naive (Emilė Skolevičiūtė) Emilė Skolevičiūtė (b. 1997) is an artist based Vilnius, Lithuania. She works under the pseudonym Nancie Naive, mostly creating in spheres of installation and performative art, focusing in medias such as her own image, body, voice, as well as in text and writing, while creating pop songs, fashion items as a fetishized merchandise, – basically, her practice is a never-ending advertisement campaign constructing the image of a meticulously precarious superego structure of a faux celebrity, who calls herself Nancie Naive.
In her practice, Nancie emphasizes identity and gender politics, topics of femininity and womanhood, the violence of societal power structures and researches the questions of what it is to be a woman in contemporary society. She has successfully presented her work in group shows in Lithuania and abroad, including such institutions as CAC (Vilnius, LT), MO Museum (Vilnius, LT), Lithuanian National Gallery of Art (Vilnius, LT), Photography Museum (Šiauliai, LT), Šiauliai Art Gallery (Šiauliai, LT), MOCAK (Krakow, PL), LOW Gallery (Riga, LV), as well as in solo show “I Am Nancie” in Improper Walls Gallery (Vienna, AT).
