Kamanių Šilelis (live)

Kamanių šilelis is an indie/folk/electronica duo.

The minimalistic, rhythmic, and gently psychedelic, art pop music of the Kamanių šilelis duo
could be described as contemporary electrified indie folk with an internationally appealing
sound. However, what distinguishes it from most of the output in a similar vein,
predominantly sung in English, is that the lyrics are often traditional Lithuanian folk songs,
instantly recognizable yet treated in a novel, laidback vocal manner by the singer Kamilė
Gudmonaitė. Recently, though, the duo has been gravitating increasingly towards original
lyrics, which nevertheless still sound folk-like.
In their records and live performances,
Kamanių šilelis use such instruments as a didgeridoo, guitar, mouth harp, analog synthesizer,
and drum machine. As a result of its diversity, the music of this evolving and innovative
project enjoys a crossover audience and attracts fans who do not usually listen to more
conventional folk, post-folk, or even world music.

Kamanių šilelis released the newest album “Žiūrėti į saulę” in 2023. In this album time seems
to dance to the rhythm, creating a sanctuary where listeners can escape, reflect, and immerse
themselves in the magic of sound.

The music and lyrics of the album were born in various places – from the countryside of
Lithuania to the mountains and oceans of Mexico. There are plenty of not only lyrical but
also danceable songs in the album, while the duo’s live shows are often surprisingly full of
ecstatic energy.

After winning the Spotlight prize of Europavox Media, Kamanių šilelis recorded their song
“Aš lauksiu tavęs” from their latest album live with the GospelJonai choir. Europavox
described this collaboration as “giving chills”.

A tender touch that Kamanių šilelis brings can be best felt in their music videos such as:
Kamanių šilelis – MYLI
Kamanių šilelis – aš lauksiu tavęs
